I enjoy decorating our home for fall. This year, I broke out of the traditional fall colors in my foyer and added some fun colors.
I have a small desk with a shelf in my foyer. I’ve had it for over 30 years and have painted it several times. Right now it is black with the horizontal surfaces stained in Special Walnut (#ad).
For my birthday, a dear friend gave me a beautiful piece of Word Art. I decided to use it as the inspiration piece for decorating the foyer. I added some Pottery Barn leaf plates (found at the thrift store pre-covid) to the back to brighten the area up. Then I added some fabric pumpkins I made a few years ago. Those were fun to make – instead of buying velvet fabric, I used a couple of women’s velour jogging suits from the 80s that I found at the thrift store. Burgandy and blue made beautiful and unusual pumpkins. To complete the look, I added a small bouquet that I found at Michaels last year. I loved the color combination.
The beaded flowers on the picture frame echo the colors in the bouquet. I like to showcase the artwork our grandlittles give us. This piece of artwork is from our grandaughter. She drew pictures of herself with me and her papa. I think she nailed the hair!
Another piece of artwork was done by one of our grandsons several years ago. It’s my absolute favorite because it is a picture of Hubs and I. I’m so glad he knows Hubs and I love each other. We’re smiling and holding hands. Apparently, our hair has made an impression on all of our grandlittles. It’s a struggle!
